As people through-out the world strive to live together in peace and harmony; likewise, brothers, Peter & Paul Wendinger have enjoyed their partnership by growing up together, farming near St. George, MN, entertaining with their Polka Band, and traveling. Their accomplishments have drawn them into a world-wide tour industry.
On Polka Day, 1962, Peter & Paul’s father bought their first concertina from a Christy Hengel display. Their first playing engagement was for the wedding reception of their neighbors, George and Marian Altmann of St. George. For their compensation, each received a pair of black socks! Their first actual “paid” job was on January 15, 1964 for John Deere Day in Gibbon, Minnesota.
The Wendingers compliment their band with a fine variety of musical talent. Their unique style of two concertinas, accompanied by their brass & rhythm sections; complete with vocals, is sure to bring you musical entertainment at its best.
In 1985, Peter & Paul were recipients of the Old Tyme Band Award from the Minnesota Ballroom Operators Association. Since then they have also been inducted into the Polka Hall of Fame and the Concertina Hall of Fame. The year, 2007, was the highlight of their career as they were inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
Their weekly, Sunday radio show on KNUJ keeps them in touch with listening audiences across the United States.
Peter & Paul are celebrating their 45th year in the band business!
They are proud to be part of the rich, musical heritage of New Ulm, Minnesota, and they enjoy entertaining with their gift of “MUSIC”…THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE!Let's go home
