Saturday,
July 19 -
Fairbanks

This afternoon we will arrive by air to the city of
Fairbanks
, the city with the golden heart, where we will check into our
accommodations for the next two nights. Tonight we'll enjoy ourselves at the
Salmon Bake feasting on all-you-can-eat salmon, halibut and barbecue ribs. After
dinner we'll walk over to
Pioneer Park to see the musical revue show depicting the
"golden days" in
Fairbanks
, in a humorous fashion.
Sunday,
July 20 -
Fairbanks
,
AK
Today we will start with breakfast. Our Riley
bus will take us to the Riverboat
Discovery with a cruise along the Chena and
Tanana
Rivers
. On this cruise we'll visit an Eskimo village and learn the many cultures and
how they survived. You will experience a dog sled demonstration and a possible
visit with Susan Butcher's husband. Susan was a four-time lditarod
winner. This afternoon we'll board a narrow gauge railroad car and learn how
the gold mining was done and what methods were used to survive the below
freezing temperatures. Upon arrival at the camp, we'll see demonstrations on
mining and then have a chance to pan some gold for ourselves. On our drive back
to
Fairbanks
, we will stop for a great view of the Alaskan pipeline, with our next stop being in North
Pole,
Alaska
to visit the Santa Claus House.
Monday July 21 -
Denali,AK
This morning after breakfast, we will be leaving
Fairbanks
for
Denali
by motor coach. We will have a short stop in the interesting town of
Nenana
, where we will be entertained with a little concertina playing by Joann, who is
a resident of Nenana. When we get to Denali we will board a special bus for the
Natural History tour of
Denali
National Park
. Keep an eye open for bear, moose,
caribou, elk, birds and many small game. This evening you will have the option
to attend the "Cabin Nite" Dinner Show.
Tuesday,
July 22 -
Anchorage
,
AK
This morning you will be again treated to breakfast. You will have the option to
enjoy the morning free or do an exciting trip rafting down the river. This
afternoon we will depart Denali on our way to
Anchorage. Hopefully the weather will cooperate to get a couple great shots of the
beautiful
Mount
McKinley
. Before we arrive in
Anchorage
we will make a stop in the town of
Wasilla
to visit the
Iditarod
Museum
, which is the official starting point of the greatest dog sled race in the
world. Our evening stay will be at the Comfort Inn in
Anchorage
.
Wednesday,
July 23 -
Seward
,
AK
This morning we will be transferred to the town of
Whittier
where we will enjoy a 4 ˝ hour 26 Glacier
cruise through some of the most pristine passageways of
Alaska
's
Prince William Sound
. You will travel deep into College Fjord and view Harvard and Yale Glaciers.
Next, cruise to Barry Arm and then finally to Surprise Glacier in Harriman
Fjord. This unique vessel cruises at 38 knots and has a top speed of 42 knots,
which is equal to 50 mph land-speed. Its first-class design provides our
passengers luxurious comfort and
incredible viewing experiences. Journey back in time as we guide you along these
remote fjords. This 135-mile tour includes narration on the history of the
Chugach Natives, Athabaskan Indians and others that ventured into the Sound in
centuries past. Learn about the various types of glaciers along the route and
the history of the Harriman Expedition of 100 years ago that named many of the
glaciers. After the cruise we will drive to our evenings stay at the Edgewater
Hotel in Seward.

Today we will enjoy
Kenai
Fjords
National Park
. Here we will board a special boat for a tour along
Resurrection
Bay
. This will be a highlight for many as we'll view several species of birds
including puffins and eagles. We'll also watch sea lions, otters, and even
Orcas and humpback whales. (Today you will have an option of going on a fishing
excursion). Our two nights stay will be at the Comfort Inn in
Anchorage
.
Friday,
July 25 -
Anchorage
,
AK
The city of
Anchorage is
Alaska
's largest city and is home to almost half of the state's residents. While not a
dazzling metropolis, each summer the city is beautifully decorated with almost
100,000 hanging flower baskets brimming with brightly-colored blooms. Included
in our visit today is the
Alaska
Native
Heritage
Center
where you will hear songs and stories. Experience the tradition of dance and
walk the path of yesterday. You will share the experience of a lifetime with
Alaska
's first people.

Home
Today we will say goodbye to our new friends and to this spectacular place.
We’re excited to go back home, but we will never forget this time in “The
Last Frontier”.
